About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our dynamic team in Sydney. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Data Engineering, this role is responsible for designing, building, and deploying fit-for-purpose data warehouse solutions that support key business functions across the bank.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and support Data Warehousing solutions, ensuring reliability and accuracy.
• Design, build, and manage data pipelines, focusing on automation and efficiency.
• Work with IT and business teams to integrate analytics and data science into business workflows.
• Leverage traditional and modern data integration technologies such as ETL/ELT, CDC, API design, and data virtualization.
• Collaborate with solution architects, analysts, project managers, and SMEs to enhance data capabilities.
• Assist with unit, integration, and user acceptance testing.
• Optimize existing ETL processes and data integration workflows.
• Support knowledge transfer to operational support teams, recommending tools and techniques for automation and troubleshooting.
• Advocate for best practices in Data Engineering, mentorship, and adoption of DataOps principles.
• Follow Agile methodologies and DevOps techniques to enhance data pipeline management.

Key Requirements

Experience & Qualifications:

• 3+ years in a Senior Data Engineering role.
• Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Management, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Strong experience with all phases of the SDLC using Agile methodologies.
• Certifications in cloud and data technologies (highly regarded).

Technical Skills:

• Strong programming expertise in Python (mandatory) and additional experience in Scala or Java.
• Proven expertise in big data solutions using Spark/Databricks in cloud environments (Azure).
• AzureDevOps
• Hands-on experience with Data Lakes, Data Pipelines, and Data Warehousing.
• Proficiency in Azure Data Factory for data pipeline optimization.
• Experience working in DevOps and CI/CD environments.
