Our NSW Government client are hiring for a highly capable Solution Designer - Travel and Expense to join their organisation, working across the implementation of a new Travel and Expense Management System for various NSW Government departments. This roles ensures the system meets business needs, integrates effectively with existing platforms and delivers a seamless user experience.
The ideal candidate must have experience in Travel and Expense Management systems and familiarity within SAP.
Role Title: Solution Designer - Travel and Expense
Contract Role Till: From the 21st of July 2025 to the 20th of July 2026.
Daily Pay: $900 to $950 + Super per day.
Location: Sydney CBD (2000)/ WFH Hybrid. 50% in office and 50% working from home.
Key Accountabilities:
- Lead the development and delivery of a portfolio of artefacts that support the solution design and adoption, identifying interdependencies and leveraging resources to maximise efficiencies and achieve required organisation outcomes.
- Lead and oversee all aspects of project development and implementation across a portfolio of complex projects, including preparing business cases and project plans, adopting appropriate governance, identifying, allocating and managing resources, and meeting reporting requirements, to ensure project outcomes are achieved on time, on budget, to quality standards.
- Lead the analysis, evaluation, development of best practice on processes and activities to ensure the internal and external services are delivered efficiently and business outcomes are met, measured and reported; and systemic and emerging risks are promptly identified.
- Provide proactive and evidence-based advice and reports to the Director to ensure the proposed solution considers the business requirements, identifies change impacts and considers the sustainability of the recommended solution.
- Liaise and work across Business Process Owners, Corporate Services Teams and portfolio/department Transformation Leads to ensure effective interface between program development, planning, service design and policy implementation.
- Lead the implementation and adoption through provision of detailed process documentation, first level data mapping to support data migration to new taxonomies, and validation of test scope and scenarios.
- Develop and implement strategies and tools for the continuous monitoring and evaluation of solution delivery gates, including data quality, test scope, process alignment, and contingency management.
Essential Requirements for consideration:
- Proven experience as a Travel and Expense Solution SME that has worked on system implementation projects, ideally within government or large enterprise environments.
- Strong understanding of travel and expense processes and systems.
- Experience in system testing, documentation, and stakeholder engagement.
- Familiarity with SAP integration and financial workflows.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to liaise across business and technical groups.
Subject Matter Expertise:
- Travel Bookings through NSW Government's travel provider, including request and approval workflows.
- Travel Allowances, with a strong understanding of NSW Government policies and how they vary across departments/agencies and awards.
- Purchasing Cards (PCard) - administration, support, and compliance.
- Virtual Cards (VCard) - for both travel and non-travel related transactions.
- Out-of-Pocket Expense Claims - processing and policy compliance.
- Travel and Expense Management Systems - administration, configuration, and user support.
- SAP Integration - understanding of how travel and expense systems interface with SAP for payroll and finance functions.
