Our leading Federal Government client are hiring for three highly capable Senior ICT Service Operations Officers to join the organisation. This role is open to candidates based in either Sydney or Melbourne, with the expectation to work in office at least 3 days per week. This role is a 7 month contract, with an ideal start date of the 1st of December 2025.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the advancement of Australia's national measurement capabilities by supporting the digital infrastructure that underpins scientific laboratories. Your work will involve engaging with laboratory staff to understand their operational needs, mapping data flows, managing software inventories, and supporting the implementation of digital solutions that improve efficiency and reliability. You will also contribute to the development of procedures and documentation that support sustainable and secure digital practices across the organisation.
This role requires someone who has an active Baseline Clearance.
Role Title: Senior ICT Service Operations Officers
Daily Rate: $550 - $650 + Super per day.
Location: Sydney (2112) or Melbourne (3182). The role is 3 days per week in office/WFH Hybrid.
Key Accountabilities:
Contributing to the uplift of the air gapped Local Area Network. You will work in consultation with the ICT staff, laboratory and management teams.
- Engage with testing laboratories to develop and implement work practices and associated procedures to leverage the air gapped Local Area Network. Being able to provide support for business change management activities.
- Mapping of data flows and storage, developing a current state understanding of where and how data is stored.
- Report and present on solution uptake and issues to management and staff user forums. This includes contributing to ICT project governance reporting.
- Interact with laboratory users and software vendors to create and maintain a register of current software and licences to allow for planning and supporting procurement activities.
Essential Criteria:
- Demonstrated experience (minimum of 3 years) supporting the delivery of IT enhancement projects. Such experience may relate to instrument control software, data mapping and storage, workflow management or information management systems.
- Demonstrated self-motivation and organisational skills, combined with well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, working autonomously under very broad direction.
- The ability to work collaboratively in a team and demonstrated experience of negotiation and influence to establish and maintain productive working relationships with management as well as operational staff and vendors.
- Excellent communication skills, particularly for engaging with a diverse range of laboratory staff, report and technical writing.
- Experience in supporting ICT operations in scientific laboratories, either as an analyst or support role.
Desirable criteria:
- Tertiary qualifications in either chemistry/biology/physics/engineering/ICT areas are desirable.
- Knowledge in Software Development, Cyber Security and Data Analysis is desirable.
- Knowledge in Scientific Laboratory Standards and accreditations (i.e. TGA, NATA) is desirable.
Candidates are required to be based in Either Sydney or Melbourne and need to be in office a minimum of 3 days per week.
Additionally, you must possess Australian Citizenship and be in possession of a Baseline Clearance.
