Our ACT Government client are hiring for a highly capable Senior Technical Project Manager to join the organisation. In this role, the successful candidate will provide technical and cyber governance expertise across a range of cybersecurity initiatives within a cyber security uplift program. This will include working with stakeholders to facilitate the uplift of applications and infrastructure to maturity level 1 of the Essential 8, including development of requirements and procurement plans, designing and implementing cyber security solutions and controls, working with internal resources, external consultants and vendors on the implementation of technical controls and the development of core system security documentation.


Candidates must possess or be able to obtain NV1 Clearance.

Role Title: Senior Technical Project Manager - Cyber Uplift

Contract Role Till: Pending Checks Clearing - until the end of June 2027

Hourly Pay: $170 - $190 + Super per hour.

Location: Canberra (2606) - Mix of In-Office 3 days per week/ WFH Hybrid.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Leading and managing the delivery of the Cyber Uplift projects to deliver the required health ICT outcomes by providing project management advice, direction, support, and resources to ensure effective and efficient delivery of projects within agreed tolerances.
  • Ensuring that projects are managed in accordance with established frameworks, processes, templates, and tools to ensure appropriate governance, oversight and responsible management of projects and resources.
  • Leading and managing the planning and implementation of assigned projects; facilitate definition of project scope, budgets, goals, and deliverables, and ensure that all relevant stakeholders are identified and engaged during the planning, design and delivery phases of the project.
  • Ensuring that business requirements are clearly articulated and mapped to agreed benefits to support effective organisational change management and technical delivery.
  • Providing high level project management advice and support to Project Sponsors, and to the Program Board and Working Groups as required.
  • Collaborating with technical teams to ensure project alignment with the Essential Eight strategies and privacy framework.
  • Effectively engage and communicate with all relevant stakeholders, including with the WhoG Program Manager, management, clinical staff, technical staff, and suppliers to support the delivery of projects and desired clinical and/or business outcomes.
  • Co-ordination and review of technical designs relating to ICT infrastructure and critical systems projects.
  • Provide support with procurement activities and managing approval processes.


Experience required:

  • Practitioner certification in PRINCE2 2017.
  • Recognised Tertiary qualifications (or equivalent) in Project Management.
  • Experience managing and delivering ICT infrastructure projects within a large-scale IT environment with an understanding of cyber security risks and technologies.
  • Experience in lifecycle management and support of ICT infrastructure and critical systems including implementation review of technical solutions and integrations.
  • Experience in uplifting systems to align with the Security of Critical Infrastructure (SOCI) Act 2018 or with cybersecurity frameworks or strategies such as the Essential 8, ISO 27001:2022 or NIST.


Candidates must be based in the Canberra and must be an Australian Citizen in order to possess or be able to obtain NV1 Clearance.
