Location: Melbourne - January start
Rate: $530 p/day

We are partnering with a leading enterprise organisation to onboard two Full Stack Developers with strong Java microservices capability. These roles will play a key part in delivering scalable, secure and high-performing solutions across a mature cloud environment. You will work closely with cross-functional squads, contributing to architecture, development, optimisation and deployment across modern platforms and toolsets.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and deploy Java-based microservices and backend components.
Build and maintain RESTful APIs, integrating with front-end applications and external systems.
Work with containerisation (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes) in cloud-native environments.
Implement best practice design for performance, scalability, and security.
Work across relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.).
Develop event-driven solutions using Kafka or similar messaging technologies.
Write robust unit and integration tests using JUnit, Mockito and maintain code quality (SonarQube).
Collaborate closely with DevOps teams on CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD).
Troubleshoot production issues in complex cloud-hosted environments.
Operate within Agile delivery frameworks (stand-ups, sprint planning, code reviews).
Required Skills & Experience - Mid Level
Strong hands-on experience with Java 8/11+ and Spring Boot.
Solid understanding of microservices architecture and REST API design.
Familiarity with messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.).
Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
Proficient with Git, Maven/Gradle, and build automation.
Understanding of microservices security best practices.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Additional Skills - Senior Level

Ability to architect and design distributed, cloud-native microservices.
Implement and govern best practices across security, performance, and service design.
Optimise applications for high availability and low latency.
Strong experience across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Expertise in Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
Deep understanding of API security (OAuth2, JWT, API Gateway).
Experience with distributed caching (Redis or similar).
Strong knowledge of multi-threading, concurrency and performance tuning.
Familiarity with monitoring/observability tools (Grafana, AppDynamics, etc.).
Proven ability to resolve complex production issues in large-scale systems.
