Senior Infrastructure Engineer - 6-Month Contract (Extension Likely)

My client, a well-established and highly respected healthcare business in Sydney, is looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to step into a key role within their infrastructure team. This is an initial 6-month contract, and with several major programs underway, there's strong potential for the engagement to extend.

The Opportunity

You'll play a hands-on leadership role across a busy enterprise environment, providing technical direction, guiding the team, and ensuring the smooth delivery of a range of critical infrastructure initiatives. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being in the centre of complex data centre, storage, and virtualisation projects and takes pride in seeing them through from planning to execution.

What You'll Be Doing

• Acting as the primary escalation point for the engineering team and offering technical oversight where needed.

• Leading the planning and delivery of infrastructure uplift projects across data centres, storage platforms, and virtualisation environments.

• Driving lifecycle programs to retire legacy infrastructure, free up rack space, and support broader modernisation efforts.

• Working closely with vendors to roll out new enterprise storage solutions and transition services into those environments.

• Contributing to the ongoing uplift and optimisation of VMware and related virtualisation services.

What You Bring

• Solid experience as a senior-level infrastructure engineer with a history of delivering successful enterprise-scale projects.

• Deep understanding of data centre operations, hardware lifecycle management, storage technologies, and VMware-based environments.

• Confidence in forward planning and managing lifecycle uplift initiatives.

• A collaborative, proactive approach that helps empower and guide engineering teams to achieve strong outcomes.

You'll be involved across a broad technical remit, including:

• Data centre management across five sites

• VMware and load-balancing technologies

• Dell, Lenovo, and Hitachi enterprise storage platforms

• Hardware lifecycle and support across clinical environments

• VDI infrastructure
