Role: Senior DevOps Engineer
Day Rate: $780 - $980 + Super
Contract Length: Initial contract to 30/06/26
Location: Parramatta/WFH Hybrid
Join a high-performing digital team driving major transformation across a large, complex government environment. This role will lead DevOps capability uplift, support production environments, and partner with delivery teams on challenging automation and deployment tasks.
You'll work with modern, persistent technologies across cloud, integration, and digital platforms, contributing to the delivery of user-centred digital services within a mature agile and continuous-delivery culture.
What You'll Do
Lead the development of internal DevOps capability and deliver a roadmap for uplift.
Automate and stabilise environment deployments, CI/CD pipelines, and tooling.
Provide hands-on DevOps production support across cloud environments.
Champion best-practice engineering, continuous improvement, and DevOps standards.
Work collaboratively across delivery, commissioning, and platform teams.
Support long-term operation, monitoring, and upgrading of enterprise systems.
About You
DevOps & Cloud Expertise
Extensive DevOps experience in production environments including monitoring, alerting, backup/recovery.
Strong AWS capability across IAM, VPC, EC2, Elastic Beanstalk, RDS, Route53, CloudFront, CloudWatch, Lambda, DynamoDB.
Knowledge of AWS security principles and best practices.
Experience with AWS Serverless technologies.
Infrastructure, Automation & CI/CD
Strong systems administration (5-8 years).
Infrastructure-as-code using CloudFormation and Terraform.
Experience building and maintaining Docker images.
CI/CD tooling such as Bamboo, AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy.
Familiarity with AWS CDK or Troposphere.
Engineering & Tooling
Strong coding/scripting skills in Java, Python and Bash.
Understanding of Web and API development.
Solid Git/source-control experience.
Knowledge of networking: TCP/IP, protocols, DDoS mitigation, IPS/IDS, WAF.
Other Strengths
Ability to learn new tools quickly and adapt to emerging trends.
Strong problem-solving in fast-moving, evolving environments.
Ability to juggle multiple tasks and contribute to pipeline planning/cost estimation.
Highly Regarded
Relevant IT or cloud certifications.
