Contract: 6-month contract with strong likelihood of extension
We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer with a strong background in Windows Server and VMware vSphere administration to join our Sydney-based infrastructure team. This role is suited to someone who enjoys hands-on engineering, automation, and producing detailed technical designs for enterprise compute and storage platforms.
Administer and support Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022)
Manage and maintain VMware vSphere infrastructure (ESXi, vCenter, clusters)
Design and document low-level compute and storage architectures for server platforms
Perform server provisioning, lifecycle management, and capacity planning
Develop and maintain automation using PowerShell (advanced scripting)
Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues across compute, storage, and virtualisation layers
Collaborate with architecture, network, and security teams on infrastructure initiatives
Contribute to infrastructure improvements, upgrades, and optimisation projects
Strong hands-on experience as a Systems Engineer or Infrastructure Engineer
Deep expertise in Windows Server administration
Proven experience managing VMware vSphere environments at scale
Advanced PowerShell scripting skills (automation, reporting, configuration)
Demonstrated experience producing low-level design (LLD) documentation for compute and storage
Solid understanding of enterprise storage concepts (SAN, NAS, RAID, performance considerations)
Experience in enterprise or large-scale environments preferred
Exposure to backup, DR, and high availability solutions
VMware or Microsoft certifications
Work on complex, enterprise-grade infrastructure
6-month contract with strong likelihood of extension
