Description

I'm partnering with a large, complex Australian organisation undergoing a significant transformation of its Customer Data and AI capabilities.

This role sits at the centre of how customer identity, consent, analytics, and AI-driven experiences are designed and governed across the enterprise.

If you think in customer domains, identity graphs, activation patterns, and privacy-by-design, this is a rare opportunity to shape an organisation-wide customer data strategy - not just deliver platforms or pipelines.

This is not a delivery-only or engineering role.
If your background is primarily data engineering or platform build, this role is unlikely to be the right fit.

As a Senior Customer Data & AI Architect, you'll act as the architectural authority across Customer Identity, CDPs, Analytics, and AI/ML.

You'll work closely with senior business, marketing, technology, risk, and privacy stakeholders to translate growth, retention, and compliance goals into scalable customer data and AI solutions.

  • Owning architecture and design decisions across the customer data domain

  • Designing end-to-end customer data and AI solutions spanning:

    • Customer profiles, events, and preferences

    • Identity resolution and ID stitching (deterministic & probabilistic)

    • Consent, PII, and privacy-by-design

    • Real-time streaming, decisioning, and activation

  • Defining future-state and transition-state customer data architectures

  • Shaping customer AI reference architecture (personalisation, NBA, insights, responsible AI)

  • Translating stakeholder objectives into clear architectural options with value, cost, and risk trade-offs

  • Providing architectural governance and technical leadership across delivery teams and partners

  • 10+ years in data solution architecture with deep customer data experience

  • 5+ years operating as a lead or principal architect on enterprise-scale transformations

  • Strong experience designing Customer Data Platforms (CDPs) and activation ecosystems

  • Proven background in identity, consent, and privacy-driven design

  • Experience applying cloud and event-driven architectures in customer / marketing contexts

  • Exposure to AI and ML use cases such as personalisation, churn, next-best-action, and audience modelling(They already have an AI Architect so as long as you have had some exposure p

  • Comfortable leading through influence rather than hierarchy

  • Confident whiteboarding complex problems with senior stakeholders

  • Able to communicate architectural trade-offs clearly

  • Strong documentation and governance mindset

Location: Sydney CBD (Hybrid - 3 days per week)
