Tranzformd Consulting is seeking an experienced AML / CTF Subject Matter Expert to support one of our professional services clients within the legal sector on a short-term, high-impact engagement.

This role has been created as a stop-gap replacement for a senior risk and compliance resource who has recently exited the firm. The consultant will take ownership of driving AML/CTF implementation outcomes, specifically aligned to the upcoming AML/CTF regulatory changes impacting legal practices from July 2026.

The engagement is delivery-focused and advisory in nature - project management, change management and business analysis capability already exists. This role is purely SME-led, sitting across risk and compliance with a heavy emphasis on AML/CTF.

By joining Tranzformd, you will be working with ASX listed companies on transformation strategies, initiatives and programs of work. This might include but is not limited to the following:

• Act as the AML / CTF SME for the firm, providing expert guidance on obligations applying to legal practices under the expanded AML/CTF regime.
• Lead and progress the AML/CTF implementation project, ensuring the firm is aligned to regulator timelines and expectations.
• Interpret and apply industry-specific guidance recently released by AUSTRAC, including designated services definitions and transitional arrangements.
• Review, refine and uplift existing AML/CTF documentation, frameworks and policies already drafted by the firm.
• Advise on:
  • AML/CTF compliance programs
  • Client Due Diligence (CDD) and ongoing monitoring
  • Suspicious Matter Reporting (SMR) obligations
  • Record-keeping requirements
• Work closely with internal stakeholders across risk, compliance, legal and privacy to drive decision-making and implementation.
• Provide practical, legally grounded recommendations that can be operationalised quickly.
• Support executive-level decisioning where the firm is outsourcing elements of AML/CTF delivery.

Required Experience:

• Strong AML / CTF background, with direct experience implementing AML/CTF frameworks.
• Prior experience working within law firms or legal practices is essential.
• Deep understanding of Australian AML/CTF legislation and upcoming reforms impacting the legal sector (effective July 2026).
• Experience working in or across risk and compliance functions, including exposure to:

• AML / CTF
• Risk management
• Business continuity planning
• Privacy (desirable)

• Proven ability to operate as a stand-alone SME, driving outcomes without needing delivery support.
• Comfortable working in a short-term, high-urgency environment.
• Strong written capability - able to review, uplift and finalise compliance artefacts.
• Pragmatic, decisive and confident advising senior stakeholders.
