Infrastructure Technical Lead - Contract (6 Months)

We are recruiting an Infrastructure Technical Lead for a large, well-established financial services organisation based in Sydney. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring deep, end-to-end infrastructure expertise and the ability to guide technical direction across a complex enterprise environment.

This contract offers a hybrid working model and a high probability of extension for the right candidate.

As the Infrastructure Tech Lead, you will take ownership of the organisation's core infrastructure platforms, acting as the technical authority across compute, virtualisation, networks, and storage. You will work closely with engineers, architects, and stakeholders to ensure stability, scalability, and continuous improvement of the infrastructure landscape.

• Provide technical leadership across enterprise infrastructure platforms

• Act as the escalation point for complex infrastructure issues

• Lead and contribute to infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and remediation initiatives

• Collaborate with architecture, security, and application teams to align infrastructure with business requirements

• Drive best practices around availability, resilience, performance, and security

• Mentor and support infrastructure engineers within the team

• Produce and review technical documentation and design artefacts

• Strong, holistic understanding of infrastructure across:

  • VMware / virtualisation platforms

  • Enterprise networking (LAN/WAN, firewalls, load balancers, routing/switching)

  • Storage technologies (SAN/NAS, enterprise storage platforms)

• Proven experience in a technical lead or senior infrastructure role

• Background working in large, regulated enterprise environments (FSI experience highly regarded)

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capability across multiple infrastructure domains

• Excellent stakeholder communication skills

• Exposure to cloud or hybrid infrastructure environments

• Experience leading infrastructure transformation or modernisation programs

• Strong understanding of operational resilience and regulatory requirements in financial services

• 6-month initial contract
