Reports to: Head of Digital.
Immediate team: 2 x Engineering Managers, 30+ Engineers.
Role Purpose
This newly created SLT role will lead the Digital Division's engineering function as the company undertakes a significant investment to enhance competitiveness and deliver exceptional digital experiences for its customers. The Head of Engineering will execute a new engineering strategy, providing structure, practices, and execution for web and mobile digital products. This role offers autonomy and strategic ownership, working closely with the senior leadership team to modernise platforms, drive innovation, and build a high-performing engineering organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead, develop, and retain a high-performing engineering team.
Define, execute, and operationalise the digital engineering strategy, including structure, practices, and delivery standards.
Ensure technical excellence, governance, and secure, scalable platforms.
Collaborate with Product, Delivery, Architecture, and CX teams to align technology with business strategy.
Drive innovation, DevOps, CI/CD adoption, and continuous improvement.
Represent engineering at executive forums and influence SLT strategic decisions.
Experience & Skills:
15+ years in software engineering and technology leadership.
Proven success leading multi-team digital engineering organisations.
Strong experience in modern delivery practices, digital product development, DevOps, cloud platforms, and architecture.
Prior experience modernising digital platforms and executing technology strategy.
Experience in regulated industries or digital transformation initiatives preferred.
