Role: Senior Cloud Engineer
Day Rate: $950 - $1050 + Super
Contract Length: Initial contract until 18/12/26 (High chance of extensions)
Location: Macquarie Park/WFH Flex (Mandatory 3 days in office)
We are seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Engineer to lead cloud migration and modernisation initiatives within a large, complex enterprise environment. This is a hands-on technical role focused on transitioning on-premise and virtualised workloads to secure, scalable AWS platforms while embedding DevSecOps best practices.
You will work closely with architecture, cyber security, infrastructure, cloud operations and application teams to enable cloud-native capabilities that support critical business, research and operational systems. A strong collaborative mindset and deep AWS migration experience are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Lead large-scale AWS migration initiatives, including discovery, assessment, landing zone design and workload migration from on-premise and VMware environments
Design and implement secure, resilient and scalable AWS architectures aligned to best-practice frameworks and compliance requirements
Apply DevSecOps principles through Infrastructure as Code (Terraform and/or CloudFormation), CI/CD pipelines and automated security controls
Partner with enterprise architecture, cyber security, infrastructure operations and application teams to modernise legacy platforms and services
Drive cloud governance, cost optimisation and operational excellence across multi-account AWS environments
Key Skills & Experience
Proven experience leading AWS cloud migrations in large or complex environments
Strong hands-on expertise across core AWS services and architectures
Solid experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform and/or CloudFormation)
DevSecOps experience including CI/CD pipelines, automation and security controls
Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work across multiple technical teams
Experience operating within regulated or compliance-driven environments is highly regarded
