We're partnering with a well-established financial services organisation in Sydney undergoing a major cloud uplift and platform modernisation program. As part of this journey, they're looking to bring in an Azure Technical Lead to act as the subject matter expert across Azure infrastructure and Infrastructure-as-Code, with a strong focus on Bicep.
This role sits at the intersection of architecture and engineering - ideal for someone who still enjoys being hands-on while leading technical direction and mentoring engineers.
You'll play a key role in designing and implementing scalable Azure environments while driving best practice across automation, deployment standards and platform engineering.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading Azure platform design and implementation across enterprise workloads
Acting as the SME for Bicep and Infrastructure-as-Code standards
Designing reusable Azure landing zones and deployment patterns
Driving automation and zero-touch environment provisioning
Providing technical leadership and mentoring engineers within the platform team
Partnering with architecture, security and delivery teams to align cloud solutions with business outcomes
Improving platform reliability, governance and cost optimisation
Strong hands-on Azure engineering background
Deep expertise in Bicep (essential)
Experience building and managing Azure environments at scale
Strong understanding of networking, identity and security within Azure
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments
Background working in regulated or enterprise environments (financial services beneficial)
Ability to translate architecture into practical engineering outcomes
Platform engineering or DevOps leadership experience
Terraform exposure (alongside Bicep)
Experience designing Azure landing zones
Exposure to hybrid or legacy modernisation programs
