Senior Data Platform Architect
Location: Sydney
Type: Permanent/Full-Time
The Role
In this role, you will define enterprise-wide data architecture, develop conceptual and logical data models, and ensure data standards, governance, and integration approaches support both current and long-term organisational needs. You will work closely with Architecture, Data & Analytics, and Technology teams to uplift data capability and influence strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain enterprise-level conceptual data models and data blueprints.
- Define data management standards, taxonomies, naming conventions, and metadata practices.
- Lead architectural governance across data warehousing, BI, integration, MDM, metadata, and document management.
- Map enterprise data to business processes, systems, and technology platforms.
- Identify gaps in data architecture practices and lead initiatives to address them.
- Contribute to data governance activities and act as a member of architecture review forums.
- Stay current with industry data standards and emerging technologies, championing their adoption.
Technical Requirements (Essential)
- 10+ years in IT with 5+ years in information systems architecture/design.
- Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise information solutions.
- Hands‑on experience with MDM, data integration, data warehousing, BI, and document management.
- Expertise in cloud platforms and modern data tech, including:
- AWS
- Snowflake
- Big Data ecosystems / data lake architectures
- Strong background in enterprise architecture, data governance, data modelling, information classification, and data integration patterns.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
Desirable Skills
- Advanced data modelling across relational, object, and semantic models.
- Knowledge of metadata management, taxonomies, ontologies, and applying structured techniques to unstructured data.
- Familiarity with industry data models (e.g., PPDM, PODS).
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and facilitation skills.
- Ability to assess emerging technologies and translate them into practical business value.
- Experience working in large, complex organisations.
