Our NSW Government client are looking for a highly capable and experienced Financial Accountant to join the organisation. This role is suited to candidates who are CA or CPA qualified, who are able to lead staff as required and can complete financial activities on an independent basis.

Role Title: Financial Accountant

Contract Role Till: 13/11/2026 - chance of extending.

Hourly Pay: $70 per hour as the maximum.

Location: 3 days in Office (2000) and 2 days working from Home.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

• The focus will be on monthly reporting to Treasury and the Department through reporting module of the NSW Government and assisting in maintaining those relationships, the technical accounting treatment for the organisation's leases and the financial management of assets.
• This role will also be responsible for providing direct support to the Finance Manager, Financial Reporting.
• The position is also responsible for ensuring control in the treatment of all accounting processes and will include preliminary review of the Balance Sheet reconciliations.

Experience & Skills Required:

• 5+ years financial accounting experience.
• Experience interacting with financial and non-financial stakeholders.
• Ability to analyse data efficiently, preparing accurate reports with commentary.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Advanced knowledge and experience in the use of accounting systems, preferably SAP or similar.
• Strong analytical skills and intellectual curiosity.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
