Overview
Talenza is partnering with a financial service organisation in their search for an experienced Delivery Manager. This role sits at the intersection of delivery leadership, people management, and executive reporting - and requires someone who can operate credibly across all three.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned delivery professional who brings hands-on programme accountability, a genuine commitment to developing the people in their team, and the analytical sharpness to translate delivery complexity into clear, actionable reporting for senior stakeholders. Reporting closely to the Executive of Program Delivery, this role has a genuine pathway to becoming the 2IC of the delivery function - making it a compelling next step for someone looking to grow into an executive career track. This is a permanent engagement suited to someone who is ready to plant a flag and build something lasting.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-End Delivery Ownership: Lead the planning, execution, and governance of delivery across a portfolio of strategic initiatives. Own the full delivery lifecycle - from scope definition and planning through to implementation and post-delivery review.
- Delivery Governance & Risk Management: Maintain rigorous delivery governance including RAID logs, status reporting, milestone tracking, and dependency management. Identify and escalate risks early, and drive resolution with speed and pragmatism.
- People & Career Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of delivery professionals. Take genuine ownership of career planning, performance conversations, and creating an environment where people grow. Build a high-performing, engaged delivery function.
- Business Reporting: Own the business reporting cadence across the delivery portfolio. Design and maintain dashboards, produce executive-level updates, and present delivery performance to senior leadership and board audiences with clarity and confidence.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary liaison between delivery teams, technology, operations, and C-suite stakeholders. Manage up effectively - translating ground-level complexity into strategic insight that enables confident decision-making.
- Continuous Improvement: Champion better ways of working across delivery. Drive improvements in planning, estimation, tooling, and reporting processes that lift the capability of the broader team.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience in delivery management across complex, multi-stakeholder programmes - ideally within investments, asset management, wealth management, or financial services.
- Demonstrated track record of end-to-end delivery ownership: from initiation through to post-implementation.
- Direct people management experience with a genuine focus on career development, coaching, and building high-performing teams.
- Strong background in business reporting - including executive dashboards, delivery status reporting, and presenting to C-suite and board-level audiences.
- Comfortable operating across both Agile and Waterfall (Wagile) delivery environments.
- Commercially sharp, with the ability to manage budgets, forecast capacity, and support business cases where required.
- Resilient, credible, and able to manage competing priorities and complex stakeholder landscapes without losing composure.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication - able to distil complexity into clear, concise messaging for any audience.
Benefits
- Job security & stability: This is a permanent role - You're being hired to build something, not just maintain it.
- Competitive remuneration: Reflecting the seniority and scope of the position.
- Work on something that matters: You'll be embedded in a high-priority transformation program, with real visibility and real impact on the direction of the business.
- Flexibility built in: A hybrid model with 3 days in the Melbourne CBD office gives you the balance to work at your best.
