Senior Java Engineer / SRE (2x Contract Roles)
Major Financial Services Organisation | 12-Month Contract | Up to $1,100/day | Sydney

We're partnering with a major financial services organisation looking to hire 2x Senior Engineers to join a high-performing engineering team working across large-scale, business-critical platforms.

This is a role for engineers who are equally comfortable building software and owning production reliability.

You'll be working in a modern engineering environment across Java, Spring Boot, AWS and Kubernetes, helping deliver resilient, scalable systems where uptime, performance and operational excellence genuinely matter.

What you'll be doing:

• Designing, building and enhancing backend applications using Java + Spring Boot
• Improving system reliability, resilience and scalability across production environments
• Applying SRE principles to drive automation, observability and operational excellence
• Working across cloud-native infrastructure in AWS + Kubernetes
• Supporting CI/CD, deployment automation and engineering best practices
• Partnering with software, platform and infrastructure teams to improve production outcomes
• Participating in incident response, root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives

What we're looking for:

• Strong commercial experience as a Senior Java Software Engineer
• Deep hands-on expertise with Java, Spring Boot and microservices
• Proven experience in SRE / production engineering / reliability-focused environments
• Strong AWS cloud experience
• Kubernetes / container platform experience
• Strong understanding of observability, monitoring, alerting and incident management
• Engineers who take ownership of systems in production, not just application delivery

Highly regarded:

• Terraform / infrastructure automation exposure
• CI/CD pipeline experience
• Experience in regulated, complex or high-availability environments
• Exposure to financial services, payments or enterprise-scale digital platforms
