Our Government client is hiring for a highly motivated Currency Officer role. This role is a 12 month fixed-term contract, with a chance of extension or becoming a permanent employee. Joining the Note Issue Department in Sydney, the team supports the secure storage, handling and distribution of Australia's banknotes, ensuring that cash continues to be a viable payment method. This role is suited to someone with manual factory work experience, as the role does involve physical labour moving items.

Role Title: Currency Officer
Pay: $65,000 - $72,000 + Super per annum.
Location: Sydney CBD (2000). The role is located on-site for 5 days a week.
Working Hours: 7am to 3:30pm


Key Accountabilities:

In this role, you will support banknote distribution, sampling, storage and control activities, with a strong focus on safety, operational discipline, risk management and accurate administration. The role suits someone who is hands-on, practical, reliable and comfortable working in a secure, process-driven environment. You will:

  • Support the day-to-day management, storage and handling of banknotes.
  • Undertake administrative and operational tasks that support banknote distribution, including data entry and record management.
  • Follow workplace health and safety requirements and contribute to a safe, secure and well-organised working environment.
  • Assist with planning and allocating work to support the efficient use of people, equipment and resources.


Key Requirements for consideration:

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including stretching, bending and lifting.
  • An understanding of the importance of security and accountability when handling and storing banknotes or other sensitive items.
  • Experience following detailed operational procedures accurately and consistently.
  • A hands-on approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Experience using standard office software and maintaining a high level of attention to detail.

Candidates must be based in/or around the Greater Sydney and able to work on-site 5 days per week.

Additionally, you must possess existing full working rights within Australia - Citizenship is required.
