Our Government client are hiring for a highly capable Data Modeller to join their organisation. This will be supporting a wider HR Data Program, with it this role ensuring HR Analytics and Finance-aligned workforce reporting can occur - delivering across enterprise workforce analytics, establishment management, staff cost reporting and finance-aligned workforce planning capability. The role will design and document enterprise-grade data models across Snowflake, including Operational Data Store, Data Vault and Staff Mart 2 star schema layers. The role will support data modelling across key source systems including Workday HCM, Ascender HRIS / Payroll, Workday Adaptive Planning, FinanceOne and manual journal data sources.
Role Title: Data Modeller
Contract Length: Until December 18th 2026.
Daily Pay: $950 - $1,000 + Super per day
Location: 3 days in Office, at Macquarie Park (2113) and the rest WFH.
Key Responsibilities
- Designing conceptual, logical and physical data models for HR, workforce, establishment, payroll, FTE and staff cost domains.
- Developing Data Vault models to support historised, auditable and change-aware workforce data.
- Designing star schema data marts for Staff Mart 2 to support Power BI dashboards, Calumo Staff Cube 2 and other downstream analytics.
- Translating business requirements and metric definitions into clear data structures, entities, relationships, hierarchies, dimensions, facts and measures.
- Modelling key workforce concepts including workers, employees, positions, jobs, organisational hierarchy, cost centres, employment type, FTE variants, payroll costs, budgeted positions, actuals, journals, vacancies and staff movements.
- Supporting alignment between HR and Finance reporting structures, including executive group, faculty, portfolio, department and cost centre hierarchies.
- Working with business SMEs to confirm definitions and calculation logic for headcount, contracted FTE, scheduled FTE, worked FTE, average FTE, staff cost, vacancies and turnover.
- Developing mapping specifications from source systems to Snowflake ODS, Data Vault and Staff Mart 2.
- Supporting data quality analysis, reconciliation logic, lineage, metadata and auditability requirements.
- Collaborating with Data Engineers to ensure models are implementable, perform and aligned to Snowflake, dbt and Airflow delivery patterns.
Core Skills & Experience
- Enterprise data modelling across complex business domains.
- Data Vault modelling, including hubs, links, satellites and historised data structures.
- Dimensional modelling and star schema design for analytics and reporting.
- Snowflake or comparable cloud data warehouse environments.
- HR, Finance, Payroll, workforce planning or establishment management data.
- Modelling source-to-target mappings across multiple enterprise systems.
- Designing data structures for Power BI, Calumo, financial reporting or similar analytical tools.
- Working with business stakeholders to define and govern metrics, calculations and reporting definitions.
- Data governance, data quality, lineage, metadata and reconciliation practices.
- Collaborating with solution architects, data engineers, business analysts, testers and reporting teams.
