Observability Engineer
6-Month Contract | Greenfield Implementation | Sydney | Hybrid

I'm partnering with a well-known Australian organisation embarking on a greenfield observability transformation and looking for an experienced Observability Engineer to lead the rollout of a modern enterprise-wide observability platform.

While the business has identified Dynatrace as their preferred solution, they're equally keen to speak with engineers who have implemented other leading observability platforms such as Datadog, New Relic, Grafana, Splunk Observability Cloud or Elastic Observability.

• Deliver a greenfield enterprise observability rollout.
• Design and implement observability across cloud and on-prem environments.
• Instrument applications, infrastructure and services to provide meaningful telemetry.
• Build dashboards, alerting and monitoring strategies for engineering and operations teams.
• Establish best practices around metrics, logs, traces and SLOs.
• Work closely with Infrastructure, Platform, Cloud and Engineering teams to embed observability across the business.
• Produce documentation and hand over the platform to internal teams.

• Hands-on experience implementing an enterprise observability platform.
• Strong knowledge of metrics, logging, distributed tracing and APM.
• Experience with one or more of:
  • Dynatrace
  • Datadog
  • New Relic
  • Grafana / Prometheus
  • Splunk Observability Cloud
  • Elastic Observability
• Experience across cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud.
• Infrastructure-as-Code experience (e.g. Terraform) is highly regarded.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and the ability to influence engineering teams.
