Our Federal Government client are looking for a highly capable Senior Officer Records Management professional to join the organisation. The Senior Officer, Records Management supports and enhances the organisations records and information management function, with a focus on compliance, implementation, and continuous improvement. The role leads the implementation of records management audit actions and delivers reporting on records management plans and performance. It contributes to the development and review of policies, procedures, and guidelines, and leads strategic initiatives including records disposal and implementation of the Records Management policy framework. The position also supports project and change management activities to strengthen and uplift records management maturity.

This is a 6 months Fixed-Term Contract opportunity, based in Sydney. Candidates must be Australian Citizens.


Role Title: Senior Officer, Records Management

Fixed Term Contract Role: 6 month initial duration

Pay (on a per annum basis): $105,000 to $130,000 + Super

Location: Sydney CBD (2000) based, with high levels of remote work allowed.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Implementation of records management audit recommendations and compliance activities, including targeted business area reviews and organisation-wide assessments.
  • Prepare and deliver regular reporting on records management plans, audit outcomes, issues, risks, and best practice solutions.
  • Facilitate the development, implementation and continuous improvement of ACECQA's records and information management framework, including strategy, policies, procedures, guidelines, classification schemes, and disposal authorities.
  • Coordinate and support the implementation of records sentencing and disposal in line with legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Support delivery of external submissions to State Records NSW to ensure records management compliance.
  • Provide strategic input into organisational change initiatives to ensure recordkeeping requirements are proactively addressed.
  • Engage with business areas to promote accountability for recordkeeping responsibilities and uplift compliance culture.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration to embed consistent recordkeeping practices across programs, projects, and operational areas.
  • Contribute to the development and tracking of performance indicators to measure records management maturity and effectiveness.
  • Monitor external trends, standards, and best practice in records and information management, and recommend improvements to organisational approaches.
  • Support quality assurance initiatives and continuous improvement activities to strengthen records and information management maturity.
  • Other records and information management activities as directed.

Key Experience & Skills Required:

  • 5 years experience in records management; compliance management.
  • Experience in implementation of records management frameworks ensuring alignment with legislation, standards, and organisational policies.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering strategic initiatives such as sentencing, disposal, and records management maturity uplift.
  • Knowledge of Records and Information Management related legislation and standards.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to influence stakeholders and foster change
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
