We're looking for an experienced Technical Performance Test Manager to join our consulting practice and lead the performance testing strategy for a major enterprise transformation within the financial services sector.

This is a unique opportunity to be the first Performance Testing specialist on the ground, taking ownership of the entire performance testing capability from day one. You'll assess the current landscape, define the strategy, establish the performance testing framework, and initially remain hands-on before building out and leading a dedicated performance testing team as the program scales.

The program will run through to the end of 2028, offering excellent long-term opportunities beyond the initial engagement.

About the Role

You'll be responsible for establishing an enterprise-wide performance testing capability from scratch, working closely with business stakeholders, architects, infrastructure teams and delivery leaders to ensure a cloud-based core banking platform can support high-volume customer transactions across both web and mobile applications.

Initially, you'll spend time understanding the existing environment, running workshops with stakeholders, defining non-functional requirements and producing the overall Performance Test Strategy before leading its implementation.

The early focus will centre around high-volume API testing for payment services as applications migrate into AWS, ensuring the platform can meet expected customer demand and performance expectations.

Experience working in banking/financial services is a MUST!

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and own the end-to-end Performance Test Strategy.
• Run workshops to capture business requirements and non-functional requirements (NFRs).
• Assess the current performance testing capability and recommend improvements.
• Define performance objectives, workload models and success criteria.
• Lead performance testing across load, stress, endurance, scalability, capacity and volume testing.
• Perform hands-on performance testing using JMeter and assess alternative tooling where appropriate.
• Validate API performance across web and mobile banking applications.
• Analyse bottlenecks across applications, databases, infrastructure and cloud environments.
• Provide recommendations around optimisation, scalability and production readiness.
• Build and mentor a growing performance testing team as the program expands.

Key Skills

• Demonstrated experience establishing a Performance Testing function or environment from scratch.
• Strong Performance Test Strategy experience within enterprise environments.
• Hands-on experience with JMeter and/or other enterprise performance testing tools such as LoadRunner, Gatling, NeoLoad or k6.
• Strong API performance testing experience.
• Excellent understanding of AWS and cloud-based architectures.
• Experience performance testing high-volume transaction platforms.
• Strong understanding of application architecture and distributed systems.
• Banking or financial services experience is essential.
• Excellent stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills.
