Our Government client are looking for a highly capable Cyber Security Engineer to join the organisation. In this role, the successful candidate will work around a major cyber uplift project, spanning across the wider organisation's staff and users, as well as interacting heavily with vendors. This role suits someone with previous experience working on Essential Eight uplifts and experience around cyber hygiene projects, in order to work on treatment plans.
Role Title: Cyber Security Engineer
Contract Role Till: 18/12/2026 - high likelihood of extension.
Daily Pay: $900 - $950 + Super
Location: 3 days in Office, at Macquarie Park (2113) and the rest WFH.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Deliver technical maturity assessments of entities' current cybersecurity posture to inform the scope and design of focused, tangible and sustainable uplift projects.
- Provide subject matter expertise and general advice on information technology risk management and cybersecurity solutions. This includes providing clear and effective recommendations to address complex cybersecurity issues.
- Stay current with the latest cybersecurity trends and threats and technical solutions. This includes providing current advice on suitable technologies to mitigate cybersecurity risks.
- Contribute to developing reusable cybersecurity architecture patterns and guidelines.
Experience & Skills Required:
- Cyber Security Engineer Experience, hands-on experience with Linux and Windows Operating Systems.
- Familiarity with Essential Eight framework, PAM and SIEM.
- Experience with Crowdstrike is viewed as desirable.
- Excellent communication skills is required.
