We're working with a major Australian financial institution undergoing a significant technology transformation across its critical infrastructure environment.
They are looking for a Senior Infrastructure Automation Engineer to join their Platform Engineering function on an initial six-month contract. You'll work within the Infrastructure Automation team, helping improve the stability, security, reliability and efficiency of a large, complex technology environment.
This is an enterprise infrastructure automation position rather than a cloud-focused DevOps role. We're specifically looking for someone with strong, hands-on experience across Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Puppet Enterprise.
Developing and maintaining configuration management solutions using Puppet Enterprise
Automating the configuration and management of enterprise RHEL environments
Building and supporting infrastructure-as-code solutions and release pipelines
Delivering software-defined infrastructure and automation initiatives
Working with technologies such as Terraform, Packer, Ansible and vRealize Automation
Integrating infrastructure platforms and automation tooling through APIs
Following TDD/BDD practices and a red-green-refactor approach
Improving infrastructure security, stability and operational efficiency
Working with technical and business stakeholders to refine requirements
Promoting the adoption of automation technologies and engineering standards
Maintaining technical documentation and internal knowledge resources
Collaborating within an Agile Scrumban team and enterprise SDLC
Strong, recent hands-on experience with Puppet or Puppet Enterprise
Strong Linux infrastructure engineering experience, particularly with RHEL
At least four years' experience across infrastructure automation, infrastructure-as-code, DevOps or systems engineering
Experience developing and supporting infrastructure-as-code solutions
Experience with Terraform, Packer, Ansible, Chef or vRealize Automation
Knowledge of CI/CD practices and tools such as Git and GitLab
Experience working with APIs and infrastructure integrations
Exposure to Windows infrastructure would be beneficial
Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience working within a structured enterprise environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience within banking, government, financial services or another highly regulated environment would be highly regarded.
$1,000-$1,200 per day
Initial six-month contract
Hybrid working with 50% office attendance
Work on large-scale, business-critical infrastructure
Join an organisation undertaking a major technology transformation
Take ownership of meaningful Puppet and RHEL automation initiatives
Work within an experienced enterprise engineering team
