Graphic Designer (Customer & Stakeholder Management) - AO5
Talenza | On behalf of a Queensland Government client
Location: Cairns or Townsville
About the Role
Are you a creative storyteller who thrives on turning complex ideas into compelling visuals? Talenza is partnering with a Queensland Government department to find an experienced Graphic Designer to join their Communication and Stakeholder Management team in North Queensland, based in either Cairns or Townsville.
In this role, you'll create visually engaging materials across print, digital, video and online platforms to support a regional stakeholder and community engagement program. From brochures and newsletters to social media content and video, you'll play a key role in how the organisation connects with the communities it serves.
This is an office-based position, with flexible work arrangements available for negotiation following an initial probation period.
What You'll Be Doing
- Developing and delivering high-quality creative design solutions that align with the region's strategic objectives and connect with stakeholders and communities
- Providing expert visual design and digital communication advice to regional executives, stakeholders and other internal teams, including guidance on branding, asset production and whole-of-government requirements
- Building strong relationships with internal clients and multidisciplinary teams to translate complex information into clear, effective visual solutions
- Designing, laying out and producing a diverse range of materials in line with corporate brand guidelines - videos, publications, brochures, newsletters, displays, maps, presentations, social media content and digital/print advertisements
- Managing workflow and competing priorities using team systems and project management tools
- Applying a customer-centred mindset to ensure creative outputs meet high quality, accessibility, budget and deadline requirements
- Liaising with external suppliers - printers, illustrators, photographers, videographers and animators - to coordinate outsourced production and maintain brand consistency
- Staying current with emerging trends in visual communication, digital design and creative technology
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of visual communication processes and standards within the team
- Collaborating with other graphic design teams across the organisation to share knowledge and support a consistent, coordinated approach to design
What You'll Bring
- Proficiency in design, publishing and video editing software (Adobe Creative Suite - Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere Pro; Microsoft Office Suite)
- A basic understanding of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), including creating accessible PDFs and Word documents
- A demonstrated ability to develop innovative, contemporary design solutions for complex communication needs
- Proven experience producing high-level creative work for large corporate or government organisations
- The ability to work effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced environment with strong problem-solving and organisational skills
- The ability to manage multiple complex projects independently and adapt to shifting priorities
- Experience working within corporate branding and style guidelines
- Exceptional attention to detail, with strong time management and organisational skills
Desirable
- Minimum five years' experience as a visual communicator across graphic design, digital, visual or creative design
- Tertiary qualification in Graphic Design or a related field, or equivalent industry experience
- Knowledge of Queensland Government processes and policies
This is a great opportunity to make a real impact on how a major Queensland Government agency engages with communities across North Queensland - bringing infrastructure and transport stories to life through compelling, high-quality design.
