Our NSW Government client is seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer - Azure to join a technology team responsible for managing and enhancing modern cloud infrastructure and workplace technologies. This role will play a key part in cloud transformation initiatives, Azure administration, Microsoft 365 services, security uplift, automation and the ongoing support of hybrid cloud environments. This is an ongoing permanent opportunity.
Role Title: Cloud Engineer
Yearly Pay: $133,348 - $146,946 + Super
Location: Sydney CBD (2000) / Hybrid working arrangement
About the Role
- Design, implement and support secure hybrid cloud infrastructure, primarily across the Microsoft Azure ecosystem.
- Lead and participate in cloud migration and transformation initiatives, including workload optimisation, application modernisation and infrastructure improvements.
- Administer and support Azure services, Microsoft 365 platforms and identity and access management solutions.
- Implement security controls, monitor cloud environments and ensure compliance with cloud security best practices.
- Develop automation solutions using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), PowerShell and cloud-native technologies.
- Collaborate with architects, developers, security teams and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, reliable and secure cloud solutions.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for complex cloud infrastructure and application issues.
- Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures and cloud governance standards.
Skills & Experience
- Extensive experience designing, deploying and supporting Azure cloud infrastructure, including both IaaS and PaaS services.
- Strong hands-on experience with Azure technologies such as Virtual Machines, App Services, Azure SQL, Storage Accounts, Networking, Key Vault, Application Gateway and Azure Monitoring.
- Experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, automation and scripting using PowerShell, Bicep or ARM templates.
- Strong knowledge of cloud security, identity and access management, including Entra ID, Conditional Access, MFA, RBAC, Privileged Identity Management and hybrid identity solutions.
- Experience supporting Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive and Intune.
- Experience with security monitoring platforms such as Microsoft Sentinel, Log Analytics and Kusto Query Language (KQL).
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills with the ability to provide technical leadership and guidance.
- Relevant cloud certifications and/or tertiary qualifications in Information Technology are highly regarded.
