Cloud Security Engineer (AWS Security) | 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract

Location: Sydney (Hybrid)
Salary: Up to $150k + super
Duration: 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract with the potential view of going perm after 12 months

Our client, a well-known Australian organisation, is seeking a Cloud Security Engineer to join their Security team on a 12-month fixed-term basis. This is an opportunity to play a key role in strengthening cloud security controls, improving security posture across AWS environments, and driving remediation and automation initiatives at scale.

You'll work closely with cloud platform, engineering and security teams to identify vulnerabilities, implement security controls, and embed security best practices across the organisation's cloud landscape.

• Strengthening and improving AWS cloud security controls across enterprise environments.
• Identifying, investigating and remediating cloud security vulnerabilities and misconfigurations.
• Developing automation and tooling to streamline security processes and remediation activities.
• Implementing and enhancing security guardrails, monitoring and governance frameworks.
• Embedding security controls into CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code deployments.
• Collaborating with engineering and platform teams to ensure security is integrated throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
• Supporting cloud security initiatives across areas including IAM, networking, logging, encryption, secrets management and compliance.

• Proven experience in a Cloud Security Engineer, DevSecOps or Cloud Security-focused role.
• Strong hands-on AWS experience, particularly across cloud security services and best practices.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, ideally CloudFormation.
• Knowledge of cloud security tooling including vulnerability management, CSPM/CNAPP platforms, SIEM integrations or similar technologies.
• Scripting and automation experience using Python or similar languages.
• Strong understanding of IAM, security governance, container security, logging and monitoring.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills.

• Up to $171k package (inclusive of 12% super).
• 12-month fixed-term contract with long-term project exposure.
