Infrastructure Automation Engineer | Puppet & Azure
6-month contract | Reserve Bank of Australia | Hybrid working

Talenza is partnering with the a major FSI to recruit an Infrastructure Automation Engineer to help improve and automate a complex enterprise infrastructure environment.

This is a hands-on opportunity to work on foundational technology improvements, building reliable, secure and repeatable infrastructure solutions for an organisation that plays a critical role in Australia's financial system.

Strong Puppet experience is the priority, alongside solid Azure engineering capability. If you enjoy writing automation code, solving infrastructure challenges and improving how platforms are managed, this could be a great next contract.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Developing and maintaining infrastructure configuration management solutions, primarily using Puppet Enterprise.

  • Applying your Azure experience to support infrastructure engineering and automation.

  • Building and supporting Infrastructure as Code solutions and release pipelines.

  • Improving configuration consistency, reliability and security across Windows and Linux environments.

  • Working with platform engineers and stakeholders to turn requirements into practical automation solutions.

  • Maintaining well-tested code and clear technical documentation within an enterprise development framework.

We're looking for someone with:

  • Strong, hands-on Puppet expertise, including developing, managing and troubleshooting configuration management code in production environments.

  • Strong Azure experience, supported by a solid understanding of enterprise infrastructure.

  • At least four years' experience across infrastructure automation, Infrastructure as Code, DevOps or platform engineering.

  • Experience with tools such as Terraform, Packer or vRealize Automation.

  • A working knowledge of Git, GitLab and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Experience configuring and supporting Windows and Linux, ideally RHEL.

  • A collaborative approach, strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to communicate technical ideas clearly.

Experience with APIs, test-driven development and Agile delivery would be valuable. Previous banking or government experience is also beneficial.

You'll join an established Platform Engineering team, reporting to the Infrastructure Automation Team Lead, with the opportunity to make a practical impact on infrastructure performance and operational efficiency.
