Description
Senior Kubernetes Platform Engineer
Location: Sydney, Melbourne or Singapore
Working model: Four days per week in the office
Salary: Up to $240,000 + superannuation, depending on experience
The opportunity
We are partnering with a rapidly growing technology business building high-performance, GPU-enabled infrastructure for modern AI workloads.
They are seeking a Senior Kubernetes Platform Engineer to help engineer, automate and operate the platforms underpinning their AI and accelerated-computing environment.
This is not a traditional DevOps or SRE role. It is a hands-on platform engineering position for someone who enjoys working close to Kubernetes, Linux, physical infrastructure, GPU platforms, networking, storage and automation.
Kubernetes sits at the centre of the organisation's infrastructure strategy, rather than simply being used as an application deployment layer.
What you'll be doing
- Engineering, automating and operating production Kubernetes platforms across large-scale Linux and accelerated-computing environments
- Building operational tooling and infrastructure automation using Python, Bash and Ansible
- Supporting GPU-enabled Kubernetes infrastructure used for AI training, inference and other high-performance workloads
- Automating the provisioning, configuration, maintenance and recovery of Linux-based infrastructure
- Working across physical servers, networking, storage, monitoring and platform observability
- Improving the reliability, repeatability and performance of Kubernetes environments
- Troubleshooting complex issues across Kubernetes, Linux, network, storage and hardware layers
- Contributing to platform standards, deployment patterns, technical documentation and operational runbooks
- Working closely with infrastructure, platform, AI and engineering teams in a highly technical environment
What we're looking for
To be considered, you will need:
- At least five years' experience developing software, automation platforms, operational tooling or infrastructure automation within large-scale Linux, cloud, HPC or AI environments
- Strong hands-on experience with Python, Bash and Ansible
- Commercial experience with high-performance GPU infrastructure, or closely related HPC and accelerated-computing environments
- Deep Linux systems experience, including server, network and storage configuration, troubleshooting and monitoring
- Strong Kubernetes platform engineering experience in production environments
- The ability to take high-level technical requirements and turn them into reliable, automated infrastructure solutions
- A practical engineering mindset and confidence troubleshooting issues across multiple layers of the platform
Highly regarded experience
- Bare-metal Kubernetes or OpenShift
- NVIDIA GPU Operator, device plugins, CUDA, DCGM or GPU time-slicing
- GPU scheduling, driver lifecycle management and accelerated-compute monitoring
- InfiniBand, RDMA, RoCE or NCCL
- Multi-cluster Kubernetes fleet management
- Argo CD, Helm, GitOps or Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management
- CNI, CSI and distributed storage technologies
- Kubernetes control-plane recovery, upgrades and certificate management
- Go development or Kubernetes controller and operator development
- AI training, inference or computer-vision workloads
Why consider this opportunity?
- Work directly with Kubernetes, Linux and GPU infrastructure at the centre of an AI-focused business
- Join a technically ambitious engineering environment solving complex infrastructure challenges
- Apply your platform engineering experience to real-world AI and accelerated-computing workloads
- Work across hardware, networking, storage, Kubernetes and automation, rather than being limited to CI/CD
- Develop deeper experience across modern GPU platforms and high-performance infrastructure
- Earn up to $240,000 + superannuation, depending on experience
Important information
The role can be based in Sydney, Melbourne or Singapore and requires attendance in the office four days per week.
The organisation is specifically seeking Kubernetes platform engineers with strong Linux and infrastructure automation foundations. Candidates whose experience is primarily centred on application CI/CD, cloud administration or general DevOps processes are unlikely to be suitable.
If you have built and operated Kubernetes platforms across Linux, GPU, HPC, edge or other infrastructure-intensive environments, we would be keen to hear from you.
