Description

Senior QC Automation Engineer

Drive the future of Quality Engineering in a large-scale healthcare technology environment.

We're partnering with a leading Australian healthcare technology organisation that is investing heavily in modern engineering practices, automation and quality transformation. This is an opportunity for a Senior QC Automation Engineer to play a pivotal role in uplifting testing capability, modernising automation frameworks and helping embed quality across multiple technology teams.

This is far more than a traditional QA role. You'll be a technical leader within the Quality Engineering function, combining hands-on automation expertise with the opportunity to influence testing strategy, governance and capability uplift across the broader organisation.

The Opportunity

You'll join a well-established technology team supporting critical customer and business platforms, helping drive the evolution from traditional QA practices towards modern Quality Engineering.

Working closely with software engineers, testers, architects and delivery teams, you'll help define how quality is delivered across the software development lifecycle while remaining deeply involved in hands-on automation development.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Design, develop and enhance scalable automation frameworks using modern testing tools and practices.
  • Drive test automation across web, API and integration testing.
  • Champion shift-left testing and quality engineering principles across development teams.
  • Mentor and uplift testers, helping build automation capability throughout the function.
  • Establish and improve testing standards, governance and best practices.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to improve testability, quality and release confidence.
  • Evaluate new technologies and automation tools, including emerging AI-enabled testing capabilities.
  • Support non-functional testing initiatives, including performance and load testing.
  • Act as a technical leader who can influence quality outcomes without direct people management responsibility.

About You

We're looking for someone who enjoys building things, improving processes and helping others grow.

You'll likely bring:

  • Strong experience building and maintaining automation frameworks in enterprise environments.
  • Commercial experience with Playwright, Selenium, Cypress or similar automation technologies.
  • Strong development experience using TypeScript, C# or similar languages.
  • Hands-on API testing experience across REST and SOAP services.
  • Experience mentoring testers and uplifting automation capability across teams.
  • A quality engineering mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to influence engineering teams.
  • Experience introducing or improving testing practices within delivery organisations.

Highly Regarded

  • Playwright and TypeScript expertise.
  • Performance and load testing experience using tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner or k6.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins or CI/CD pipelines.
  • Exposure to AI-assisted testing and automation tooling.
  • Experience within healthcare, medical technology, financial services or other regulated environments.

Why Join?

  • Opportunity to shape the future of quality engineering within a large technology organisation.
  • High-impact role with significant technical influence.
  • Modern engineering environment with strong investment in automation.
  • Collaborative and supportive culture focused on continuous improvement.
  • Work alongside experienced engineering and technology leaders.
  • Sydney CBD location with hybrid working arrangements (3 days in office).
